An exciting new project to work on, we were delighted to be asked to create the new website for the Welsh Museums Festival (usually held every October half term) for 2020! With Covid-19, there was a huge element of ensuring that this website would be able to host a virtual aspect for the festival, as well as a really comprehensive events system with a filterable map, and museums list for all of the museums involved across Wales.

Although the website might look fairly standard from the visitor point of view, much of the work went into the back end – ensuring all museums had their own login and ability to update their own profiles and listings, as well as a really easy to use, but comprehensive events section too. Each museum would be able to add events to the events section and calendar, which were then searchable by visitors to the website, in both Welsh and English.

We worked with the Welsh Museums Festival to ensure live streaming from YouTube was possible on the website, embedding these events and also a range of resources across the site from each event too. We’re told the event was a huge success, and we’re glad to have played our part in it! With the system all set up and ready to go, we hope to see the Welsh Museums Festival grow next year as we undoubtedly embrace virtual technology more and more!
