Although these changes were rolled out at the end of 2018, it’s only now we’re seeing them on our own groups on Facebook. So, what’s it all about?

You’ll see mentorship being rolled out in groups that are focused on parenting, professional and personal development.

As a group admin, you’ll then be asked to create a “mentorship programme“. You’ll be able to choose from a range of templates for the programe, for example skill development, encouragement/support or career advancement. Choose the one that’s more relevant to your group.

Your group members will then be able to sign up, either as a mentor or a mentee. The group admin will be able to match people up into pairs who will be able to work together through the programme template you selected earlier.

All communications between a mentor and a mentee is only visible to the pair (and not the admin).

Facebook has announced that their goal is to build tools that help people get the support they need. We think that this mentor programme is a great opportunity for group admins and members, and we’re certain it’ll be a really popular feature.
